Human rights activists expressed disgust and outrage this week after photos surfaced of a recently freed Cuban political prisoner suffering from multiple severe medical conditions, including cancer and visible malnutrition. Cuba has been suffering under a brutal, murderous communist regime for 67 years. The Communist Party, first under late dictator Fidel Castro and now under his brother Raúl, engaged for decades in the widespread use of torture, firing squads, mass arrests, and public beatings, among other practices, to subjugate that population, which never voted for the Castro regime as Fidel Castro and his small gang staged a coup to seize…
The neo-liberal governing coalition in Ireland survived a vote of no confidence this week; however, it has been rocked by a high-profile resignation and public critiques from party members over its handling of the widespread anti-fuel tax protests. Earlier this month, farmers, truckers, and average citizens staged large-scale acts of civil disobedience, blockading Ireland’s only oil refinery, using vehicles to slow motorway traffic to a trickle, and preventing petrol stations from refilling. The protests, which come amid the potentially looming energy crisis in Europe over the shutdown of shipments through the Strait of Hormuz during the Iran conflict, were aimed…
The far-left Mediaite launched a newsletter called One Sheet a few months back, and already its editor, Colby Hall, has been suspended for fabricated quotes and a series of misattributions. In its January 21 launch announcement, One Sheet described itself as “The Newsletter of Newsletters” and promised that for a monthly fee, “Mediaite’s team of media-savvy writers and editors will sift through the dozens of media newsletters and curate all of the day’s best content in easily-digestible fashion.” Oh, and the newsletter comes “complete with insider knowledge and smart takes,” which, when you consider the awful writing and shallow, herd-like…

Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron has expressed support for the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger as thousands of industry elites have rallied in opposition to it. The Titanic director expressed his thoughts about the issue in an interview with the Associated Press. “I’m a supporter of it. I know it’s controversial,” he said before hailing Paramount CEO David Ellison as being “the right man for the job to run a major studio.” “I know David quite well. And I know that he really cares about movies,” Cameron said. “And he’s a natural born storyteller and thinks like almost an old school entrepreneurial producer…

In an effort to offset rising energy and fuel costs Brussels is planning to propose E.U. member states force companies to implement at least one mandatory remote working day, Spanish outlets confirmed. The newspaper El País reports that it obtained a draft copy of the European Commission’s proposal, which, in addition to the mandatory remote work proposal, also calls for other measures to reduce energy and fuel consumption, such as “closing public buildings whenever possible,” reducing public transportation fares, or making it free for certain groups. Other measures present in the draft, the newspaper reported, call for EU Member States to issue “specific energy…
“I love your country and I would love to see it succeed”, President Donald Trump said as he listed off “insane” energy and mass migration policies presently being forced on the United Kingdom. Britain is being “invaded” by mass migration, crushed by the highest energy prices in the world, and is failing to honour its alliances, U.S. President Donald Trump said as he reflected on the “sad” state of a country he said he loved and wants to see do well. The remarks, to Britain’s Sky News broadcaster, are just the latest instance of the President laying out his very…
