A French-owned container ship was “struck by an unknown projectile” in the Strait of Hormuz overnight, causing damage to the vessel and injuring crew members, the owner has confirmed. Several top officials in the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in Washington, D.C. are facing termination regarding an investigation “into the manipulation of crime data,” according to a recent report. “Three officials familiar with the situation” confirmed to the Washington Post that “multiple high-ranking” officials within the MPD were given “papers saying the department intends to fire them.” The officials, who wished to remain anonymous, told the outlet that “at least some of the proposed terminations” are related to the investigation. The Department of Education (ED) on Monday announced an investigation into Smith College, one of the largest all-women’s colleges in the U.S., for admitting transgender-identifying men.  ED said its Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is also investigating the women’s school for allowing men into women-only spaces, including dormitories, bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams. Brussels is moving to block European Union funding going to clean energy projects that use Chinese solar panel equipment over the potential cybersecurity risks it poses to Europe’s power grid.
