KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN – JULY 17: US Vice President Kamala Harris speaks at a moderated conversation … [+]Getty Images Three tax credits for families with children, low-income workers, and first-time homebuyers proposed by Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris would reduce federal tax revenues by $2 trillion over the next decade. But, as she has claimed, they’d largely benefit low- and middle-income households, according to a new Tax Policy Center analysis. TPC projected that more than 70 percent of households making about $113,000 or less (the lowest-income half) would benefit from at least one of these three tax breaks. Overall, they’d lower…
By Kit Knightly As of today, the UK’s “Chicken License” is in full effect. October 1st marked the deadline for registering your chickens with the proper authority. Moving forward anyone caught with an unlicensed chicken will be in breach of the law and subject to fines and poultry reclamation. I am entirely serious. Back in March the UK govt’s “Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs” (DEFRA) announced changes to the poultry registration laws, essentially redefining a “flock” from “50 birds or more” to 1. So, from now on, everybody in the country who keeps even a single bird –…

The IBA disqualified Khelif, fighting in the 66-kilogram division, and Taiwanese fighter Lin Yu-ting, fighting in the 57-kilogram division, from fighting in its women’s tournaments in March 2023 on the grounds that they failed unspecified tests to confirm that they fit the governing body’s definition of a woman. IBA President Umar Kremlev told the Russian news agency Tass at the time that Lin and Khelif “have XY chromosomes,” the genetic makeup of a…
The dockworkers’ strike that could have severely hurt the American economy and the supply chain weeks before an election has been paused until January 15, diverting what could have been a political catastrophe for Vice President Kamala Harris. “The union that represents tens of thousands of East Coast dockworkers and the shipping industry reached a tentative agreement on wages and are extending an expired contract through Jan. 15, 2025,” announced Politico on Thursday. Hurricane Milton’s rampage is not swaying House Republican leaders who oppose returning to Washington to approve billions of dollars for disaster assistance. President Joe Biden on Thursday said lawmakers should return to Capitol Hill “immediately” from their preelection recess, echoing pleas from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers from the afflicted states. But despite questions about the solvency of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s disaster fund, House Speaker Mike Johnson and top appropriators insist the agency can manage just fine — for now — with the $20.3 billion that Congress freed up for it late last month. That money is for…
New York magazine placed its Washington political correspondent, Olivia Nuzzi, on leave Thursday evening for engaging in a “personal relationship” with former presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy was also recently named to Donald Trump’s transition team. Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
