AnhPhu Nguyen and Caine Ardayfio released a video of themselves using the smart glasses to identify people on the street and look up their personal information through services such as PimEyes. The students used the integrated camera on Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses to capture live video through Instagram and ran it through their software…
Friendly waitress serving couple at a restaurant taking orders and looking very happygetty Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are promoting a troubling idea: Hyper-targeting tax subsidies to narrowly favored activities or occupations. While Trump and Harris are increasingly using this tool, Trump has been far more aggressive. The tension between using the tax code to raise revenue versus rewarding specific activities or benefitting specially defined groups is hardly new. But this year’s collection of proposed credits and deductions would be more tailored than a bespoke suit. And they’d make the tax code less fair and less efficient. Both Trump…

Pro-Palestinian radicals vandalized the constituency office of Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) in New York City early Tuesday, smashing windows, smearing the façade with red paint, and painting “Free Gaza” on the sidewalk outside. The attack occurred shortly after October 7, the anniversary of the Hamas terror attack in Israel. There had been anti-Israel protests in New York City all day, with some demonstrators celebrating terrorism as a form of “resistance.” The New York Post, which obtained surveillance video of the attack, reported Wednesday: The footage shows two thugs — wearing hoods and surgical masks — beginning Tuesday’s rampage by lifting a roller…
Will the Fed Double Down on September’s Mistake? The September jobs report was a jolt to the system, upending expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next moves. The addition of 254,000 jobs in September—well above the 140,000 forecast—paired with a dip in the unemployment rate to 4.1 percent, makes one thing clear: the labor market has not significantly weakened. It’s powering ahead. Wage growth came in stronger than expected at four percent, further complicating the Fed’s narrative that the economy needs propping up with lower rates. After the Fed’s surprise 50-basis-point cut in September, the burning question now is whether the…
