American A.I. and robotics companies are reportedly asking Congress to impose curbs on Chinese robotics manufacturers, due to their unfair business practices and the security risks they pose, Chinese media complained this week. Interestingly, these concerns are particularly acute for humanoid robots, not the bulky industrial machines traditionally associated with the robotics industry. Humanoid robots, the stuff of countless science fiction stories, are finally happening, and witnesses told the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee of the House Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday that China has developed a troubling lead in the new consumer technology. What looked this week like a fresh sign of rising inflation may have sprouted months earlier in the desert around Yuma, Arizona. Yuma is America’s winter lettuce capital, supplying roughly 90 percent of the leafy greens eaten in the U.S. and Canada between November and March. Last November, the city recorded 1.44 inches of rain, more than six times its normal 0.23 inch for the month, making it Yuma’s eighth-wettest November on record and its wettest since 2008. On Nov. 21 alone, Yuma set a daily rainfall record with 0.96 of an inch. That weather shock appears to have helped…
On Wednesday on ABC’s “The View,” co-host Joy Behar said President Donald Trump did not care about human suffering because he was a “shell of a human being.” During a panel discussion about the resignation of counterterrorism official Joe Kent, co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “They’re speaking out against his exit as some MAGA supporters side with him and some Democrats are pointing out that he brought a lot of baggage to that position. It is very confusing and very complicated.” Behar said, “You can’t turn on Trump in any way. He has a fit. He has a conniption as we used…

Socialist “Interim President” of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez on Wednesday replaced Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López — a longtime top figure in the regime of dictator Nicolás Maduro. Rodríguez replaced Padrino López with Venezuelan Army General Gustavo González López — a U.S.-sanctioned man linked to Rodríguez and involved in human rights violations and corruption. “We thank General Vladimir Padrino López for his loyalty to the nation and for having been, throughout all these years, the foremost defender of our country,” Rodríguez wrote on social media. “We are confident that he will assume the new responsibilities entrusted to him with the same commitment and honor.”…
Nearly half of households headed by immigrants, those legally and illegally living in the United States, are on one or more forms of welfare, a Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) analysis of Census Bureau data reveals. The CIS analysis looked at the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement to learn which countries have the most immigrant welfare-users in the U.S. Overall, about 47 percent of households headed by immigrants are on one or more forms of welfare. When the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit is included as welfare, that percentage rises to 54 percent.…
House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie (R-KY) told Breitbart News that the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is being used to impose “radical” environmental standards on Americans, which drive up costs. “The Greenhouse Gas Protocol is being used as a back door for unelected bureaucrats and far-left organizations to impose radical environmental standards on American businesses. While California is already forcing aggressive climate disclosure mandates on companies, these proposals would effectively let one state’s agenda set rules for the entire country, expanding red tape, driving up costs, and putting American companies at a competitive disadvantage instead of encouraging investment in…
Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever is being reasonable in public, a cardinal sin in Brussels these days Ideally, policy debates should serve to bring together the fullest information, the brightest minds, and the sharpest arguments in order to find solutions. That is, the optimum combination between what is best and what is feasible. In the real world, shaped by ordinary human fallibility and the extraordinary egotism of professional politicians, that is usually not what happens. But the EU is still special in just how atrociously, hopelessly, for crying-out-loud bad it is at the solution game. Because it is not just…
Breitbart News social media director and author Wynton Hall explained that his new book, Code Red: The Left, the Right, China, and the Race to Control AI, is design to “provide hope, give solutions” and help conservatives prepare to seize the benefits of AI while avoiding its pitfalls. “One of the big pitfalls that we’ve got to watch out for is what’s known as ‘cognitive offloading’ and the erosion of critical thinking skills,” Hall said of potential consequences of AI during Wednesday’s episode of The Drill Down with Peter Schweizer.
