ATHENS, Greece (AP) – Migrants in Greece with rejected asylum claims will be required to wear ankle monitors as part of planned measures to speed up deportations, a government official announced Monday. Migration Minister Thanos Plevris said the measure is set to be implemented before the end of the year under reforms that would criminalize noncompliance with deportation orders. “The use of electronic monitoring will make it clear that the options have narrowed,” Plevris told state-run ERT radio. The tougher regulations, including mandatory jail terms for defying deportation orders, will be submitted to parliament next month after a summer delay…

A New Paper Breaks the Fed’s Favorite Assumption The Federal Reserve has a tariff problem—not with policy, but with theory. Its economists still model tariffs as if they’re automatic inflation machines: slap a duty on foreign goods, and prices go up. No nuance, no adjustment, no bargaining. A new academic paper, published by three trade economists using microdata from China, says the Fed has it wrong. Tariffs don’t just get passed along—they get absorbed. And when the absorbing happens on the exporter’s side of the Pacific, U.S. prices don’t rise the way the Fed expects. In some cases, they may…

Pritzker said, “What Greg Abbott is doing and what Donald Trump is attempting to do is to cheat mid-decade here; they’re attempting to change the map. They know that they’re going to lose in 2026, the Congress, and so they’re trying to steal seats. So that is what these Texas Democrats are trying to stand up against. Then don’t forget the map that they put…

The U.S. Department of Education has opened investigations into five universities for offering scholarships that exclude U.S. citizens and legal residents in favor of undocumented students, including recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The Washington Post’s editorial board complained about this today, saying that ‘helping undocumented students’ to ‘afford’ higher education ‘isn’t discrimination.’ The Trump Administration is arguing in court that prioritizing illegal aliens over American citizens is discriminatory against American students based on the protected class of ‘national origin.’ The Post utilizes several often-used left-wing memes related to immigrants, namely that these workers will ‘do…
