A Steuben County man faces felony assault charges, accused of trying to cause a serious injury with a motor vehicle, according to New York State Police.

Bath-based troopers charged Walter P. Golden, 40, of Arkport, with two counts of first-degree degree assault with a weapon in connection to an alleged incident Sunday afternoon in Hornellsville.

State Police provided no additional details behind the charges, but troopers noted a vehicle was allegedly involved.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Golden was booked into the county jail early Monday morning and is being held on $2,000 cash or $4,000 property bond.

Golden is scheduled to appear in Hornellsville Town Court at 4 p.m. April 2.

First-degree assault, with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, is a class B felony, punishable by up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
