Presidents’ Day is Monday, and operations for some public services and business will be altered for the holiday.

What is Presidents’ Day?
Presidents’ Day was established to honor the birthday of America’s first president, George Washington, who was born Feb. 22, according to the National Archives.
Congress originally designated Washington’s birthday as a holiday for all federal workers in 1885. In 1971, the Uniform Monday Holiday Law changed the date to the third Monday in February. Since that falls in between Washington’s birthday and Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, Feb 12, the name Presidents’ Day stuck.

Is the post office open in Louisville on Presidents’ Day? Will mail be delivered?
USPS facilities will be closed and regular mail service will pause Monday in observance of the holiday, according to a news release.
Priority Mail Express, which is delivered 365 days a year, will continue on Presidents’ Day, however. Mail services will resume as normal Tuesday.
Are UPS and FedEx open on Presidents’ Day?
UPS pickup and delivery will continue Monday, according to the company’s website.
FedEx will operate mostly as normal, with the exception of FedEx 1, which will have modified service, according to the company’s website.
Are banks closed on Presidents’ Day?
Most banks will be closed Monday for the holiday since President’s Day is a Federal Reserve holiday.
Will Jefferson County Public Schools be closed on Presidents’ Day?
Jefferson County Public Schools students will not have class on Presidents’ Day, though teachers will be in attendance for family-teacher conferences, according to the district calendar.
Will the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office, Motor Vehicle Branch locations be closed on Presidents’ Day?
The Jefferson County Clerk’s Office and Motor Vehicle Branch locations in Louisville will be closed for Presidents’ Day, according to the county clerk’s website.
