Popular children’s YouTuber Ms. Rachel shared a statement online, seemingly in response to criticism she’s received about protecting kids in Gaza, saying, “All children should be protected.”
“All children have the right to food, water, medical care and education. All children should be protected from violence,” she shared in a post on Instagram.
Rachel Griffin Accurso, who goes by Ms. Rachel on her YouTube channel with more than 14 million subscribers, has come under fire for her advocacy for children in Gaza impacted Israel’s war against Hamas.
StopAntisemitism, an advocacy organization, asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Accurso, who makes children’s videos for speech therapy and preschool skills.
The group asked Bondi to investigate if Accurso has been paid to spread propaganda for Hamas, arguing the YouTuber made claims that were later debunked by Israel.
“Social media influencers increasingly get paid to post. When a child-centered personality like Ms. Rachel begins posting Hamas-aligned messages, which are so out of character, it draws our attention,” the group said.
Accurso has frequently posted about Gazan children on her Instagram account, which is more geared toward adults. She’s called for better living conditions for all children.
“Children have human rights. These rights are not just for some children, they are for all children. Standing up for children, especially those who are most vulnerable, is the right thing to do,” Accurso said in her recent Instagram post.
