Alice In Chains’ album Black Gives Way To Blue just turned 15 years old, and the band wanted to do something special to celebrate. They recently released a limited number of vinyl copies of the set, which were quickly picked up by fans. All those purchases have helped the project make a splash on the Billboard charts, thanks to a huge increase in its total sales.

In the past tracking week, Luminate reports that Black Gives Way To Blue sold 2,600 copies. That’s a sizable number for a studio effort that’s a decade and a half old—and it’s especially notable when comparing that figure to how well the title performed just a few days prior.

The same data company reveals that Alice In Chains’ bestseller didn’t even manage 500 purchases the week before it was re-released. Black Gives Way To Blue saw its sales sum climb by 471% from one frame to the next, thanks almost entirely to the vinyl drop.

All those purchases help Black Gives Way To Blue break onto two Billboard charts. The set reappears on the Top Album Sales list, where it settles at No. 33—in its thirty-third frame on the tally.

Black Gives Way To Blue also manages to debut on the Vinyl Albums ranking. The title nearly enters the top 10, but is instead forced to settle for a No. 11 starting point, which is still an impressive placement.

Alice In Chains released Black Gives Way To Blue in 2009, and it marked a significant comeback for the band. By that point, they hadn’t released an album since their self-titled effort in 1995. Fans were eager to show their support for the new full-length, and they pushed the project into the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Somewhat unusually, Black Gives Way To Blue doesn’t appear on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart this week. The band’s only other current placement on a Billboard ranking is on that list, yet their soaring winner didn’t make the tally. That may be because the company classifies it as something other than hard rock…or maybe it simply didn’t perform well enough. On that genre-specific roster, Alice In Chains’ Dirt dips three rungs to land at No. 23.
