Pete Hegseth: Very well, we’re here in my office, and I’m pleased to announce that the Secretary of the Air Force, Troy Meink, working with the Department of Government Efficiency, has secured over 10 billion dollars in savings. They’re eliminating waste and working with vendors to reduce spending on contracts.

I want to congratulate you, Mr. Secretary, and the entire Air Force team for being relentless in cutting excess. The Air Force now claims the top two spots on the Doge savings podium. I don’t know where that podium is. I’m told it’s somewhere—maybe in the basement of the Pentagon—but we’re going to bring it into the light. The Air Force claims the top two spots, symbolizing its commitment to leadership and to you, the taxpayers.

Thank you to the Secretary for being an example of sound management. We appreciate your dedication to President Trump’s mission of peace through strength. Excellent work, and we thank you for all you’re doing.

Troy Meink: Thank you, Secretary Hegseth. As you said, efficient use of taxpayer money is critical to national security and maintaining our lethal edge. In the last six months, we reviewed 500 contracts and 50 business systems, achieving over 10 billion dollars in savings.

With ongoing modernization—the largest in Air Force history—every last dollar will be needed to achieve that lethality and peace through strength. Thanks to the team. Thank you, sir, for supporting the Department of the Air Force. We look forward to continuing the work. Great job.

Pete Hegseth: Let me see that card. 50 business systems? That gives you an idea of what we’re up against here. I mean, 500 contracts is probably just the beginning.

Troy Meink: Yes, part of it was reducing the number of business systems to try to simplify things a bit. And we’ve got major platforms that America is going to rely on. The F47—whatever it is—the Air Force is involved in that. This is huge.

This is part of what we came here to do: to find those dollars and direct them to the President’s mission of keeping the country safe. So I appreciate you leading the way. A lot of work here. And thanks also to the Doge for making it possible. We’ll find him. We appreciate your work.
