CHEYENNE – A local man suspected of stealing a Winnebago Winnie Minnie was arrested Sunday night after crashing the RV at Cowboy Dodge, located at 1121 East Lincolnway.

The vehicle was reported stolen from the area of the Moose Lodge off South Greeley Highway on Saturday, according to a statement from the Laramie County Sheriff’s office.

Sunday evening, deputies located the Winnebago on Horse Creek Road. However, when the driver, Ryan Jenkins, noticed officers, he allegedly sped off. A spike strip placed under one of the Winnebago’s tires by deputies subsequently deflated one of the Winnebago tires, according to the statement.

Deputies pursued the Winnebago, heading east on Horse Creek Road and over Interstate 25, where troopers with the Wyoming Highway Patrol were able to spike strip multiple other tires on the vehicle.

Despite the tire damage, Jenkins continued to drive through several traffic control devices, on only “sparking wheels,” according to the statement. Jenkins continued to elude officers until he failed to navigate the bend in Lincolnway at Nationway, and went off the road at Cowboy Dodge.

Though he had veered off the road, Jenkins attempted to further elude officers on foot, according to the statement. He was taken into custody without further incident after a brief foot chase.

Jenkins was transported to the Laramie County jail and booked on charges of felony motor vehicle theft, misdemeanor fleeing/eluding and interference with a peace officer at 6:13 p.m. Sunday.

No vehicles at Cowboy Dodge were damaged.

LCSO was assisted by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Cheyenne Police Department and the Laramie County Communications Center in this arrest.
