The Miami Valley has been getting inches of snow throughout Sunday, making roads slick and unpredictable.

News Center 7 spoke with Ohio Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Mandi Dillon about what kind of conditions to expect on the streets.

“Right now, the snow is coming down just as fast as the crews are plowing, so a lot of our roads are snow-covered,” Dillon s
Dillon says the crews are scheduled to be out all night plowing as the snow comes down, but it’s an uphill battle.
“The roads are not going to be perfect,” Dillon said. “We are trying to make them passable for those that have to get out there.”
She also said the road crews will treat slick spots if the roads refreeze, especially on bridges and overpasses.
One recurring problem for ODOT is having their plows hit by vehicles while they are on route.
Three plows were hit Sunday, according to ODOT.
“We just want to remind people to use their winter driving skills when they’re getting behind the wheel,” Dillon said. “If you see our plows out there, make sure you give them some space.”
Throughout this winter, 12 plows have been hit. Last winter, 22 plows were hit, Dillon said.
