Taylor Swift dominates U.K. album sales with The Tortured Poets Department, Folklore, Lover, 1989 … [+]
For a second week in a row, Taylor Swift fills the most spaces on the list of the bestselling albums in the United Kingdom. This is a feat she’s used to managing, as the singer-songwriter has emerged as one of the bestselling artists of her generation. It’s not uncommon for Swift to claim the most rungs on any sales ranking at any given time. What is interesting about her performance this time around is that while she maintains the same number of spaces, she trades not just one title for another, but a champion for a low-ranking comeback.
This week, Swift’s Reputation reappears on the Official Physical Albums chart. The electronic-leaning project breaks back in at No. 92, narrowly managing to rank among the 100-bestselling projects of any style or via any format that fans can get their hands on in the country.
Interestingly, while she occupies the greatest number of spaces on the tally, none of Swift’s bestsellers appear inside the top 40, which is odd for her. The Tortured Poets Department ranks as the superstar’s top performer this frame, and it dips from No. 34 to No. 41, just outside the important region.
Between The Tortured Poets Department and Reputation, her lowest-ranking placement on the Official Physical Albums chart, come four other bestsellers. Folklore (No. 68), 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (No. 76), Lover (No. 86), and Midnights (No. 81) also continue selling well enough across the United Kingdom to find a home on this roster.
Last week, Swift dominated the Official Physical Albums chart. Lover (Live from Paris) reappeared on the list at No. 1 in just its second turn on the tally. Just days following that win, the live recording has disappeared, as it was made into a champion thanks to a short burst of attention following a special vinyl re-release.
This week, just as was the case last time around, Swift beats Kendrick Lamar by just one bestseller when it comes to which musician claims the most real estate. The recent Grammy winner and Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner occupies a quintet of rungs, just as he did a few days ago. Coming in third place among the artists with the most bestsellers in the U.K. at the moment is Billie Eilish. As two of her holdovers rise, another two projects reappear on the list.
