Led Zeppelin scores a pair of top 10 hits, as “Stairway to Heaven” returns at No. 8 and “Whole Lotta … [+]
Led Zeppelin is in the middle of a very big week on the Billboard charts. The group collects a new smash–with an old tune, of course–but that’s not the only exciting thing happening with the long-defunct hard rockers.
The English group lands a pair of top 10 hits in the United States this frame. Both appear on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, and the two tunes land right next to one another, which is notable, as neither of them appeared on the list just days ago.
“Stairway to Heaven” is Led Zeppelin’s highest-ranking single at the moment. It reappears on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales list at No. 8.
Just one space further down, “Whole Lotta Love” debuts. That track, which was never meant to be a single, but which did become a smash success across America decades ago, opens at No. 9 on the list of the bestselling hard rock-only tunes in the country “Whole Lotta Love” earns the group its fourth placement between Nos. 1 and 10 on the ranking.
As both of those tracks become big wins, only one of Led Zeppelin’s full-lengths can be found on any Billboard ranking. Led Zeppelin IV breaks back onto the Top Hard Rock Albums chart this frame. It comes in second-to-last place as it resettles at No. 24.
Both of Led Zeppelin’s returning classics have already spent time inside the top 10 on their respective charts. “Stairway to Heaven,” which sits at No. 8 at the moment, has previously climbed all the way to No. 4 in the 332 frames it has spent on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales roster. Led Zeppelin IV, meanwhile, flew to No. 6 on the ranking of the most-consumed hard rock full-lengths and EPs throughout the nation. It is quickly nearing 300 turns somewhere on that list, which it will likely reach in the coming year or so.
Led Zeppelin’s music is back in the spotlight after the band’s documentary was released to theaters. Becoming Led Zeppelin chronicles the earliest days of the pioneering rock act, and the film features the remaining members telling their stories for the first time.
