Francisco San Martin, who acted in daytime drama Days of Our Lives as Dario Hernandez from 2010-11 (and in a few episodes in 2017), reportedly died on Thursday, January 16. He was 39.
According to the Hollywood LA News, San Martin’s body was found by authorities at his Los Angeles home, and the cause of death was determined to be hanging.
Born in Spain on the island of Mallorca and raised in Montana, San Martin began acting in children’s theatre productions. After returning to Spain with his family to live in Madrid in his teens, he worked as a model and started taking acting lessons. Eventually, he appeared in various stage, television and film productions in Spain.
“Pepe, what can I say but I love you and rest in peace, my friend. My only witness that pau sang happy birthday to me in the middle of a concert in Hollywood, you couldn’t believe it,” wrote Camila Banus, his Days of Our Lives co-star, on Instagram. “Love you mucho mucho mucho; I wish I had told you more.”
Following a small role in the 2013 TV movie Behind the Candelabra, San Martin returned to daytime television for 16 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful in 2017.
That same year San Martin appeared in seven episodes of Jane the Virgin in primetime as Fabian Regalo del Cielo, the estate manager who goes to work for fashion mogul Eric Forrester (John McCook).
