One of Them Days—a comedy starring Keke Palmer and SZA—is new in theaters. How soon will it be available to stream at home?
The film is directed by Lawrence Lamont (Rap Sh!t). The logline for One of Them Days reads, “When best friends and roommates Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) discover Alyssa’s boyfriend has blown their rent money, the duo finds themselves going to extremes in a race against the clock to avoid eviction and keep their friendship intact.”
One of Them Days also stars Vanessa Bell Calloway, Katt Williams, Janelle James, Lil Rel Howrey and Maude Apatow.
One of Them Days opened in theaters nationwide on Friday. Currently, the only way you can see the film is in theaters, so check local listings for showtimes.
The first stop for One of Them Days in the home entertainment market will be digital streaming via premium video on demand. While some studios take a wait-and-see approach and monitor how their films perform financially in theaters before setting a PVOD date, others follow a pattern.
One of Them Days’ studio, Sony Pictures Entertainment—which released the film under its Tri-Star Pictures banner—follows more of a set pattern. Judging releases from the studio in the past year, Sony Pictures Entertainment typically takes about six weeks from the time its films are released in theaters to the time they arrive on PVOD.
For example, SPE’s summer action comedy smash Bad Boys: Ride or Die opened in theaters on June 7 PVOD and arrived on PVOD about six weeks later, on July 23. Also, SPE’s hit Venom: The Last Dance—which opened in theaters on Oct. 25—arrived on PVOD approximately six weeks later on Dec. 10.
However, a pair of other SPE’s recent theatrical releases have appeared on PVOD much quicker. The drama Here—which opened in theaters on Nov. 1—made its debut less than a month later on Nov. 26. In addition, Kraven the Hunter, which opened in theaters on Dec. 13 debuted on PVOD about a month later, on Jan. 14.
As such, One of Them Days will likely debut on PVOD anywhere between Feb. 14 to Feb. 28.
What Streaming Service Will Get ‘One Of Them Days’ First?
Since Sony Pictures Entertainment has a deal with Netflix to stream its films first, the platform is where One of Them Days will make its streaming video on demand debut.
Typically, it takes three to four months from the time a SPE film opens in theaters to the day it arrives on Netflix.
For example, Here, which opened in theaters on Nov. 1, 2024, will debut on Netflix on Jan. 30, just three months shy after its theatrical release. In addition, Saturday Night—which opened in wide release in theaters on Oct. 11—will make its SVOD debut on Netflix on Jan. 25, about three and a half months after its theatrical release.
However, it took four months before It Ends with Us—which opened in theaters on Aug. 9—to arrive on Netflix until Dec. 9.
As such, viewers can expect One of Them Days to arrive on Netflix anytime between April 18 and May 16.
Rated R, One of Them Days is playing in theaters nationwide.
