J-Hope is nearly a year removed from his last album release, as Hope on the Street Vol. 1 dropped in the spring of 2024. As the world waits to hear more from the BTS star, his fans have turned an oft-forgotten track–two of them, actually–into hits.
The singer appears on a pair of Billboard charts this week with almost the same song. Slightly different takes on the composition “Blue Side” appear on a pair of tallies, with one returning higher than ever, while another debuts years after its release.
“Blue Side” reappears on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week at No. 3. That’s a new high for the tune on Billboard’s list of the bestselling foreign-language tracks in the U.S., with all Spanish cuts removed.
J-Hope launched “Blue Side” on the World Digital Song Sales tally back in August 2022. It spent just one turn on the tally before disappearing, but now it’s back–and at a never-before-seen high, as well.
“Blue Side” is the highest-ranking return on the World Digital Song Sales list this week. The ranking features just 10 spaces, and half of them are currently occupied by comebacks, with artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Adam Port both pushing tunes to the roster once again.
J-Hope also appears on the Digital Song Sales chart–which looks at the top-selling tracks across the U.S., regardless of genre or style–with what appears to be the same cut. “Blue Side (Outro)” debuts at No. 13 on the purchase-only roster, earning his sixteenth solo hit on the tally.
“Blue Side (Outro)” originally appeared on J-Hope’s 2018 mixtape Hope World. He then released a slightly longer edition of the title a few years later to celebrate its anniversary, so the two carry different titles.
J-Hope’s cut is the second-loftiest debut on the Digital Song Sales chart this week. Only Morgan Wallen’s new single “Smile” opens higher, as it launches at No. 1 this time around. There are several other comebacks this period, from stars like Chappell Roan, Luke Combs, and Jelly Roll, but only two arrivals.
