On the music charts in the United Kingdom this week, many popular songs either soar from where they sat last frame or return. Now that Christmas tunes have fallen out of favor again, there’s a lot more room for non-seasonal smashes to become hits once more.
BTS singer Jimin is one of many musicians enjoying another big week, due in part to the lack of holiday cuts. One of his most recent tracks returns to multiple charts, and as it does, it reaches a special landmark.
“Who” breaks back onto the main songs ranking in the U.K., which tracks the most-consumed titles in the country. The smash reappears at No. 64 on the roster, but that position is not what makes this period special for the composition and the man behind it.
Jimin has kept “Who” on the U.K. singles chart for 18 weeks, a number it reaches this frame. That means that “Who” has now lived on the list as long as all of his other solo smashes combined—times two.
Throughout his solo career, Jimin has sent half a dozen tunes to the singles ranking in the U.K. Before “Who,” only “Like Crazy” had managed more than one stay on the roster. That global hit racked up five turns on the tally.
His other wins—“Vibe” with Taeyang, “Set Me Free, Pt. 2,” “Angel, Pt. 1,” and “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” with Loco—all spent just one week on the chart. Those four collective frames, when paired with the five that “Like Crazy” collected, meant that before “Who” arrived, Jimin had earned a total of nine stints on the singles ranking. His latest release has spent twice as much time on the same roster.
At the same time that it returns to the competitive singles tally, “Who” is also a streaming success again. The blockbuster reappears even higher on the Official Streaming chart than on the main songs list, as it re-enters that tally at No. 34, becoming a top 40 hit once more.
