WATCH — Jasmine Crockett: Black Community in Texas Not ‘Excited’ About Democrat James Talarico

Leftist Rep. Jasmine Crocket (D-TX) said the black community in her state is not too keen on Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico, her comments coming as the November midterms approach.

During recent interview, Crockett, who previously claimed race played a role in her primary loss to Talarico, stated “I personally don’t feel like the excitement necessarily exists within the black community right now.”

“I don’t feel like they’re excited, right? But I do have some amazing black candidates that are running for office in some of the largest counties. So if I can introduce black folk to them that may excite them and get them to the polls,” Crockett added:

Her statement drew criticism from other leftists, namely from Patrick Gaspard of the Center for American Progress.

“At some point, we have to ask who exactly you’re working for. Black folks across the country know what time it is and are turning out in super high numbers. James Talarico is a phenomenal candidate who is appealing across Texas. It’s gross to suggest that our voters will only come out for black candidates. Especially at a time when we’re facing the reality of Trump’s assaults on our rights,” he wrote.

“This whole feud is disappointing and narcissistic. What a waste of real talent,” Gaspard concluded:

In June, Crockett said black voters had not fully gotten behind Talarico as he challenged Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-TX), Breitbart News reported:

The Dallas congresswoman also questioned whether Democrats — particularly Black voters — have rallied behind Talarico and the rest of the statewide ticket.

“I’ve not heard a bunch of kumbaya,” Crockett said. “People don’t seem to be convinced at this point, but there’s a lot of time between now and November.”

When asked whether she would actively support Talarico’s campaign, Crockett offered no commitment.

In a social media post Thursday, Paxton blasted Talarico, stating he was “going to continue his flip-flop tour, but make no mistake he is willing to sacrifice our children at the altar of the radical trans movement.”

“Talarico is too weird and too radical for Texas,” Paxton said.
