At least 17 people were shot, four of them fatally, in Democrat-run, stringently gun-controlled Chicago Friday into Sunday morning alone.
ABC 7 reported that the first fatal shooting occurred Saturday around 11:00 p.m. and resulted in the death of a 48-year-old woman. The woman was one of three people shot in the incident; the other two survived their wounds.
The second fatal shooting happened “in the Englewood neighborhood’s 6200-block of South May Street around 9:15 p.m. [Saturday].” The victim was a 34-year-old man who was sitting inside an SUV when someone walked up and opened fire.
The 34-year-old was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The next fatal shooting was discovered around 3:40 a.m. Sunday “in the 13100-block of South Langley Avenue” and involved a 25-year-old who had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The final fatal shooting of the Friday to Sunday morning time frame was discovered at 5:45 a.m. Sunday “in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood’s 6100-block of South Campbell Avenue.” Two victims with gunshot wounds were found, and CBS News noted that one of the victims died at the scene.
A database maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times indicated that 275 people have murdered in the Windy City thus far in 2026.
