President Trump responded to the diarrhea-causing parasite epidemic in nine states during a hilarious moment in the Oval Office on Friday.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, more than 1,600 Americans have been confirmed infected with the parasite, with dozens hospitalized.
Taylor Farms, a massive agricultural conglomerate that has been repeatedly tied to major foodborne outbreaks in the past, was suspected to be the source of the outbreak, but the FDA recently announced that the sample results that previously pointed at Taylor Farms as the culprit were a “false positive.”
Fox’s Peter Doocy asked an unexpected question in the Oval Office earlier, which even Trump was caught off guard by. “There’s this nasty parasite that is giving people in nine states explosive diarrhea,” Doocy began.
“When is it going to be safe to eat lettuce again?”
“I don’t know, I haven’t thought about it. It’s the first time I’ve been asked that question. Are you eating lettuce recently?” Trump responded, laughing. “If you are, get the hell out of here, Peter.”
Trump then suggested that he’s going to “put a major tariff on Mexico because of the lettuce” and a “big tariff on Canada because of the smoke.”

Trump previously said he would hold Canada responsible for the “filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air” as smog and air pollution swept across the Northern US due to Canadian wildfires.
Nearly 900 fires are raging across Canada and brought dangerous air quality to US states and major cities, including Washington, DC, last week.
“They are not properly maintaining their Forests and Brush therein, and the United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous and totally unacceptable!” Trump said.
“Canada has refused to engage in basic Forest Management and Debris Removal, knowing that such refusal will lead to exactly this result. This is Willful Negligence, and becoming a yearly occurrence, costing the United States Billions of Dollars, which cost of this pollution must of necessity be added to the TARIFFS Canada is currently paying.”
