Criminal Illegal Alien Kills Indiana Man After Driving Semi-Truck He Wasn’t Licensed to Drive into Oncoming Traffic

A criminal illegal alien from Serbia and Montenegro plowed a semi-truck into oncoming traffic and killed an Indiana man last week.

Borko Stankovic, who has been living illegally in the U.S. since his visa expired in 2011, was driving without a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) when he caused the fatal head-on collision.

Stankovic swerved his big rig into the path of a Subaru Crosstrek, instantly killing the driver, Jeffrey Eberly, at the scene.

Stankovic has a history of violating U.S. laws, including a previous arrest in Long Island, New York, for resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. He now faces charges of reckless homicide and criminal recklessness.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged an immigration detainer against him at the Porter County Jail to make sure that he will not slip through the cracks again.

“This senseless tragedy should NEVER have happened, and this man should still be alive today,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a press release about the crash.

McLaughlin continued, “Stankovic has been in this country ILLEGALLY since 2011 and has a history of violating the law, yet he remained free to continue engaging in dangerous behavior that ultimately resulted in the death of Jeffrey Eberly. Illegal aliens have no business operating 18 wheelers or semi-trucks on America’s highways. President Trump and Secretary Noem are making America’s roads safe again.”

This senseless death underscores the failures of sanctuary policies that allowed Stankovic to remain free despite prior arrests, and it comes amid an aggressive push by the Trump administration to remove such threats from America’s roads.

Last month, ICE teamed up with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in a three-day operation along Interstate 40, arresting 120 illegal aliens. The bust focused on traffic stops and netted 91 illegal aliens operating commercial motor vehicles with CDLs, many from countries like India, China, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Georgia.

In response to these threats, Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced emergency measures to restrict non-domiciled CDLs for non-citizens, requiring employment-based visas and federal immigration checks.

“What our team has discovered should disturb and anger every American,” said Duffy in a press release at the time.

Duffy continued, “Licenses to operate a massive, 80,000-pound truck are being issued to dangerous foreign drivers – often times illegally. This is a direct threat to the safety of every family on the road, and I won’t stand for it. Today’s actions will prevent unsafe foreign drivers from renewing their license and hold states accountable to immediately invalidate improperly issued licenses.”
