Boots on the ground in Israel – for peace.
After the historic feat of bringing Israel and Hamas to the negotiating table, comes the dangerous phase of actually implementing the agreements and securing the cease-fire.
To this effect, the U.S. Central Command is establishing a coordination center in Israel.
The mission will be ‘to support and monitor the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel’, according to a U.S. official heard by ABC.
ABC News reported:
“The official stressed that no U.S. military personnel will be deploying to Gaza, but that 200 U.S. servicemembers will be operating from inside Israel.
In addition to monitoring the ceasefire, the coordination center will help with the flow of humanitarian, logistic and security assistance into Gaza, according to the official.”

The U.S. personnel are expected to provide expertise in security, planning, logistics, engineering, and transportation.
Al Arabiya reported:
“’The troops will assist in planning and setting up the center at a location they deem most suitable’, the official said. The facility will bring together stakeholders, partner nations, NGOs, and investors to ensure a unified and efficient effort.
This structure, the official added, will enable participants ‘to operate in sync and in a sequence that maximizes efficiency and effectiveness of the transition toward civilian governance’.
According to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the initiative will also allow the US and partner nations to monitor the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement. Egypt, Qatar and Turkey will take part in the task force.”
This is a developing story.
