Governor Kathy Hochul spoke to members of True Bethel Baptist Church in Western New York over the weekend, and the Democrat leader of the state is receiving harsh criticism for her racially charged comments.

Peppered into the speech, billed as “Discussing the State of America,” were inflammatory remarks that serve as the latest example of Hocul’s racial insensitivity.

While discussing tax credits for families with young children and state tax rebate checks, Hochul told the predominantly African American audience, “Checks are coming out soon….watch the mail, okay?”

“Okay? Don’t spend it all in one day. Get something you really need, okay?”

“Don’t stop by the liquor store, okay?”

“Okay? Buy something for the kids — buy them some food.”

The audience reacted with shocked and nervous laughter.

Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavia discussed Hochul’s remarks on his radio show, calling her the worst governor in America.

“But only Kathy Hochul can get in front of Black people, where you’re totally going political, in a church, in a house of God, on a sabbath, and say one of the most inartful and racist things I’ve ever heard.”

Following a clip of her remarks, Bellavia added, “Did you just dive into the deepest, racist diatribe we’ve ever heard a public official? Without even an apology?

In 2024, The Gateway Pundit reported that Hochul said Black kids in the Bronx don’t know what the word “computer” is during remarks in Los Angeles.

“It’s sort of our attitude. We will be the best, we will be the first, and I want others to follow, because right now we have young Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is. They don’t know. They don’t know these things,” Hochul added.
