Former AOC Supporter Matures, Has Message for Socialist Mamdani Fans: ‘These Policies Don’t Make Cities Fairer, They Make Them Poorer’ (Video)

A former AOC supporter has a warning for young New York voters who are dazzled by Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s socialist promises: “These policies don’t make cities fairer; they make them poorer.”

Mamdani has been criticized for his radical plans to transform the city and for how he proposes paying for it, including hiking property taxes for “richer and whiter neighborhoods.”

Mamdani has also waged a longstanding campaign aimed at defunding the New York Police Department, which he claims is designed to “control black, brown and poor New Yorkers.”

Mamdani has proposed a myriad of ways of spending taxpayer money on a litany of leftwing objectives, but not everyone is buying his snake oil salesman pitch.

In a post on X, Lucy Biggers warns young people about the reality of all the ‘free goodies’ being promised.

Biggers, who works in media, told The New York Post she “helped propel AOC from a virtual unknown to political juggernaut in 2018.”

Now, Biggers is a homeowner and a mother of two in Connecticut and sees things differently.

Per The Post:

She said the pandemic and the impact of government spending was a big turning point.

“As you grow up, you start to see the world less black and white. You can’t sell this bill of goods that promises to create a utopia in America,” said Biggers, who works in the city.

“There’s a glorification of socialism among young people. They don’t know what happened in Cuba, Venezuela, the USSR. They glamorize these countries and are indoctrinated into thinking the US is bad. It’s very naive . . . it’s embarrassing,” she said, reflecting on her own views back then.

“When I was 25, I would’ve been obsessed with Zohran Mamdani,” Biggers wrote on X.

“At 27, I helped get AOC elected. I made a viral video about her campaign, met her a bunch of times, and was totally bought in.”

“Now I’m 35, and I’ve grown up. The feel-good promises of free college, free food, free housing might sound great, but they don’t work.”

“I get why young people love Zohran. I really do. They’ve been indoctrinated into the belief that capitalism is the problem. They want to fight inequality, make a difference, and vote for the good guy.”

“But the road to hell is paved with good intentions. These policies don’t make cities fairer, they make them poorer. The people who are supposed to foot the bill leave, and the rest of us are stuck with higher taxes, more regulations, and less to show for it.”
