New Kids on the Block is one of the rare boy bands from decades past that is not only still together, but which continues to release new music. The group reunited in mid-2024 to drop Still Kids, its eighth proper full-length and first in more than a decade. Now, a year later, the Grammy-nominated vocal troupe is back on the United Kingdom’s music charts — not with anything brand new, but rather with a decades-old project that has become a surprising bestseller.

New Kids on the Block’s Step By Step Debuts

Step by Step appears on one tally in the U.K. this frame. The poppy project enters the Official Album Download chart at No. 84, officially becoming a bestseller on this list for the first time.

Step by Step Turns 35

On June 13, New Kids on the Block re-released Step by Step to honor its thirty-fifth birthday. The project originally dropped in June 1990, at which point the boy band had already become globally successful, but the project took the group to a new level.

The full-length was largely supported by its title track, which became a smash all around the world. In the U.K., it rose to the runner-up spot on the Official Singles chart and was followed by “Tonight” and “Let’s Try It Again,” both of which also broke into the top 10.

New Kids on the Block’s Las Vegas Residency

New Kids on the Block has another reason for sharing Step by Step, in addition to its birthday. The band began its Las Vegas concert residency on June 20, and shows are scheduled throughout the rest of 2025 and even into early 2026. The attention generate by an anniversary re-release and its appearance(s) on the charts may help remind fans to pick up tickets.

New Kids on the Block’s Recent Winning Streak

While New Kids on the Block doesn’t release music quite as frequently as it did in its early years, it hasn’t been long since the group last debuted on the Official Album Download chart. The troupe has managed to score a new win on this specific tally in each of the past three years. In 2023, The Block Revisited peaked at No. 50. In May 2024, Still Kids — the latest proper studio album from the band — opened at No. 15.
