Kendrick Lamar Pushes Four Albums Up The Same Chart

Kendrick Lamar’s singles may be slipping, but all four of his albums are climbing on the U.K.’s … More Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart this week. After months of dominating song charts around the world with tracks from his latest album GNX and several older career-defining smashes, Kendrick Lamar’s grip on singles rankings appears to be loosening. In the United Kingdom, many of the hip-hop talent’s most recent hits have fallen away or are fading fast. He now occupies just a few spots on the tallies he ruled not long ago, and many of his most popular cuts are either declining or have disappeared entirely.

That said, Lamar’s albums are gaining momentum, as fans in the U.K. continue to buy and stream nearly everything he’s ever released.

Four Kendrick Lamar Albums Are Climbing

Four of Lamar’s projects are currently charting in the U.K., and all of them improved from where they sat last week on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart. This frame, he claims two spots inside the top 10 as GNX pushes to No. 6, while To Pimp a Butterfly rises one rung to No. 7.

At the same time, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City ascends two spaces to No. 21, and DAMN. jumps from No. 36 to No. 33.

Kendrick Lamar’s Missing No. 1

Each of Lamar’s four titles currently present on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart has previously hit No. 1. Throughout his career, he’s landed five champions on that ranking. At the moment, only Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which also once ruled, is missing from the list.

The amount of time each album has spent on the tally varies greatly. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City recently passed a decade on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, while GNX has logged just 21 weeks so far — a number that will certainly increase significantly in the coming months.

Only One Album Appears on Multiple U.K. Charts

Among Lamar’s four current projects, only one appears on a list in addition to the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart. GNX slides from No. 88 to No. 93 on the Official Physical Albums roster, barely selling well enough to hang on. None of his other titles currently stream or sell well enough to rank on other U.K. tallies.
