Queen’s Time-Tested Hit Brings The Band Back To A Special Milestone

Queen lands three songs on the U.K.’s Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, with “Another One Bites … More the Dust” reaching 550 weeks and “Don’t Stop Me Now” leading the trio. Queen’s catalog is so packed with massive hits that if almost any one of the group’s songs had been written and recorded by another act, it would rank as a career-defining smash. The rock outfit continues to score multiple wins on charts across several Western nations each week, especially in the United Kingdom, its homeland.

This time around, a trio of tunes by Queen appears together on the same list, and one of them reaches a major milestone — one the rock troop has seen before.

“Another One Bites the Dust” Reaches a Milestone

“Another One Bites the Dust” is currently the lowest-ranking of Queen’s three smashes on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart. It dips just one space to No. 19 on the list of the top-selling tunes in those styles in the country. As it declines ever so slightly, the song reaches 550 weeks on the roster.

Queen’s Longest-Charting Hits

Queen has now seen four songs spend 550 weeks or more on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart. “Bohemian Rhapsody” continues to lead with 862 frames, while “Don’t Stop Me Now” isn’t far behind with 859. “We Will Rock You” sits in between, with 704 turns on the tally.

“Don’t Stop Me Now” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Both “Don’t Stop Me Now” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” add to their totals this week, as the two appear inside the top 10 on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart. “Don’t Stop Me Now” may be trailing “Bohemian Rhapsody” by less than a month — which is not much time when looking at more than a decade on one tally — but this time around, it’s Queen’s highest-ranking win, as it keeps at No. 4. At the same time, “Bohemian Rhapsody” barely manages to hang on inside the uppermost region, slipping to No. 10.

Queen Follows Behind Many Other Rock Bands

Reaching 550 weeks on any chart is a huge accomplishment for any tune, but Queen is far from the only act with one such smash on the Official Rock & Metal Singles ranking. In fact, of the 40 tunes featured on the list this week, “Another One Bites the Dust” is the seventeenth-longest-charting.

In terms of longevity, “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls is winning by an incredible distance, as it has thus far spent 937 periods on this list. Just a short time ago, “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi joined this club, as it’s now up to 556 weeks on the tally.
