Mark Halperin is one of the few mainstream journalists who is willing to admit that Trump Derangement Syndrome is real.
In a recent video, Halperin talked about the condition and suggested that it is the driving force behind the lunacy we are seeing unfold in California right now.
He points out that there are not many cities with the kind of law enforcement infrastructure to deal with such large mobs and that calling in the National Guard was a perfectly sensible thing for Trump to do, but that crazed leftists can’t seem to help themselves when it comes to Trump.

This is not about southern California, it’s not even about immigration. What I want to talk about is Trump Derangement Syndrome.
This is a serious affliction, which has befallen many Americans, tens of millions, and it’s no joking matter. It’s little understood. Why Donald Trump causes folks to go out of their minds is something I do not understand completely.
We’re seeing it in California, we’re seeing it around the country, in reaction to Donald Trump’s decision to use the National Guard and perhaps active duty military to deal with the reality of facts on the ground in California. There’s not a police force in the country, with the possible exception of here in Gotham City who can stand up the infrastructure required to deal with major protests, particularly major protests that turn violent. They’re just not scaled to do it.
So bringing the National Guard is a good idea. But what we’re seeing in California is a classic manifestation of Trump Derangement Syndrome. We’re seeing it around the country as well. Donald Trump is… um… for some reason, for a decade now, driven people on the left mad over his posture on immigration, and it all goes back to his announcement event. In 2015 when he first said he was going to run for president.

Halperin is not wrong about this. The trouble is that TDS doesn’t just afflict average leftists. It also happens to elected officials and people who work in media, and the people who suffer from it rarely recognize how crazy they seem to others. It’s a shame that there’s no known cure.
