R-Truth Shockingly Released By WWE As The Wrestling World Reacts

R-Truth spent the majority of his 17-year WWE run as a hilariously confused, lovable lowkey legend. So when Truth took to Twitter to post he had been released, it was easy to assume this was the latest R-Truth gag in a long, legendary line of them.

It wasn’t.

“Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you. [sic]”

Truth’s final match was a one-sided loss to JC Mateo this past Friday on SmackDown after one of his signature comedy segments that made Solo Sikoa briefly break character with laughter.

Truth’s tweet led to an outpouring of love and support from fans, wrestlers and, least importantly, wrestling media. Seemingly a WWE lifer, especially after surviving WWE’s latest cuts, R-Truth’s sudden release sent shockwaves across WWE social media.

“I hate this so much,” said Naomi.

“You’re the best! Hope we can run it back bro,” said Donovan Dijak.

“In all seriousness, this is literally so heartbreaking… Thank you Truth,” said Rhea Ripley.

The now poignant tweets mourning R-Truth’s departure are a necessary evil in this entire process, as Truth’s character created a “Boy who cried wolf” complex on social media, where WWE Superstars are usually in character.

WWE Superstars React To R-Truth’s Release

Dominik Mysterio, Nia Jax, Pat McAfee, Shotzi and countless wrestlers from across the industry posted about their love and support for one of the most beloved WWE Superstars of all time. In fact, the nature of Truth’s release is sure to stir up chaos backstage, as it’s is another reminder that very few jobs feel safe in the TKO Era.

“The unfortunate news of R-Truth’s release is, at the very least, eye-opening. He’s one of the most well-liked individuals to ever work for the company. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of questions backstage tomorrow…” wrote WWE insider account WrestleVotes.

“I am heartbroken. It’s the nature of the beast; the part of business that no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings and I don’t care who knows it. WHAT A RUN! [sic],” wrote WWE lead writer and Truth’s former tag team partner Brian ”Road Dogg” James. James curiously deleted the post moments later.

Given how popular he was in WWE’s locker room, expect R-Truth tributes and easter eggs in wrestling matches throughout Monday’s Raw on Netflix from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
