Speaker Mike Johnson and House Freedom Caucus members will head to the White House for a 3 p.m. meeting today, according to three Republicans with direct knowledge of the matter.
The high-stakes gathering will come after talks with hard-liners blew up overnight over the fate of the “one big, beautiful bill” House Republican leaders still say they want to pass before the end of the day Wednesday.

The House Rules Committee has been meeting for almost 12 hours to pave the way for floor consideration of the party-line package of tax cuts and extensions, border security investments, energy policy and more. But final bill text remains at large amid fights over cuts to Medicaid and repeals of clean energy tax credits, among other outstanding issues.
