Tommy Robinson Has Sentence Reduced — Will Be Released From Prison Later This Week

British political prisoner Tommy Robinson is set to be released from prison within the coming week after the High Court reduced his 18-month sentence for contempt of court by four months.

Robinson was originally jailed last October for violating a 2021 injunction that prohibited him from repeating allegations against Jamal Hijazi, a Syrian refugee who had previously won a libel case against him.

At the time of sentencing, Justice Johnson explained that the prison term included a 14-month “punitive” portion and a four-month “coercive” portion.

This week, Robinson appealed to the High Court in an effort to “purge” the coercive element of the sentence — a request that was granted.

Justice Johnson had previously stated that Robinson could seek to have the coercive period lifted if he showed a willingness to abide by the court order.

The contempt proceedings stemmed from Robinson’s 2023 film Silenced and a series of interviews in which he reiterated the banned claims.

He admitted to ten breaches of the injunction after the Solicitor General filed two contempt applications, including one that accused him of “publishing, causing, authorising or procuring” the film’s release.

Back in March, The Gateway Pundit reported on how Robinson had been subjected to 128 days solitary confinement at his prison facility in Milton Keynes.

Robinson has long been a target of the British state because of his political, which has included efforts to expose grooming gangs, mass immigration and Islamic extremism.
