President Trump announced Thursday that he is ending the Biden-era Digital Equity Act.
“I have spoken with my wonderful Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, and we agree that the Biden/Harris so-called ‘Digital Equity Act’ is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL,” the President said.
According to a Congressional summary of the bill introduced by Democratic lawmakers,
This bill requires the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to establish grant programs for promoting digital equity, supporting digital inclusion activities, and building capacity for state-led efforts to increase adoption of broadband by their residents.
Specifically, the bill establishes the State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program to make distributions to states based on their populations, demographics, and availability and adoption of broadband. The bill also establishes the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program for supporting efforts to achieve digital equity, promote digital inclusion, and stimulate adoption of broadband.
Essentially, the bill prioritizes internet access for black people and minorities.
The Act provides $2.75 billion to various programs that are intended to support groups, including incarcerated individuals, disabled people, non-English speakers, and minorities. It was probably intended to support illegal aliens, too.
Failed programs like this are the source of massive waste, fraud, and abuse in government.
As The Gateway Pundit reported last June, a $42 billion plan to connect rural Americans to the internet in the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act “has not connected even one person with those funds,” said Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr. “In fact, it now says that no construction projects will even start until 2025 at earliest.”

According to Internet For All, the Act, funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, aimed to provide Americans with “the skills and technology they need to take full advantage of their Internet connection so they can better their lives and grow the economy for everyone.”
“No more woke handouts based on race! The Digital Equity Program is a RACIST and ILLEGAL $2.5 BILLION DOLLAR giveaway,” the President said.
“I am ending this IMMEDIATELY, and saving Taxpayers BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!”
