A diner on Cincinnati’s West Side known for its double-decker sandwiches is closing for the summer as they say they’re being forced to relocate.
J&J Restaurant, in the Western Village shopping plaza off Glenway Avenue, will close on May 13 until they reopen down the road in Green Township in August.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we’ve been forced to leave our current business location. The current landlord has refused to renew our lease,” J&J’s owners posted on Facebook April 25. “This decision to relocate was not made lightly, and we are truly saddened to be closing our doors at this address.”
J&J will reopen at 5939 Harrison Avenue, about eight minutes up the road from its current location, next to the Cincinnati Children’s in Green Township and across from the Green Township Kroger.
Brixmor Property Group, a national real estate group based out of New York that owns Western Village, could not be immediately reached for comment.
“Serving this community has meant the world to us, and we’re incredibly proud of what we built together,” the restaurant’s owners wrote. “We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and support over the last 50 years and look forward to serving the community at our new location.”
Western Village, in Cincinnati’s Westwood neighborhood, is a shopping mall home to a Kroger off Glenway Avenue as well as other stores.
