Janel Grant’s legal team announced they have submitted a legal filing against Dr. Carlon Colker, a wellness doctor who allegedly treats WWE wrestlers and employees, and Peak Wellness, the medical clinic owned by Dr. Colker. Dr. Colker was a key figure in the sex trafficking lawsuit filed against McMahon by Grant in January of this year. The allegations ultimately led to the downfall of Vince McMahon as Chairman and CEO of WWE.
In addition to alleged abuse, the filing also alleges that Dr. Colker “repeatedly medicated Ms. Grant with unknown substances, including intravenously.” The filing seeks to compel Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness to turn over Ms. Grant’s full electronic medical and billing records as well as messages between Dr. Colker and Vince McMahon regarding Ms. Grant.
Last month, Dr. Colker withdrew his complaint of defamation against Ms. Grant.
“Imagine being at your most vulnerable, and the doctor you are told to see only makes you feel worse,” said Ann Callis, attorney for Janel Grant. “Our filing today makes clear that Dr. Colker violated ethical and medical standards when he injected unknown substances into Janel’s body and directed her to take unlabeled pills while dismissing her basic questions about those drugs. Peak Wellness owes Janel Grant answers and the clinic’s secrecy and evasion must come to an end.”
Ms. Grant has requested eight different categories of records from Peak Wellness, including:
- Ms. Grant’s electronic medical records, including all associated metadata
- Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ recordkeeping and billing procedures
- Payment records relating to Ms. Grant
- Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ payment arrangements with McMahon and/or WWE
- The purpose of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments
- The substance of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments
- Any communications between Dr. Colker and McMahon relating to Ms. Grant
- Dr. Colker’s involvement in recommending Ms. Grant’s attorney for negotiation of the purported non-disclosure agreement.
WWE is currently enjoying its most financially successful era in history after being acquired by parent company TKO/Endeavor. Still, an ongoing legal battle between Grant, Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE continues to be a vile elephant in the room.
Netflix, which will air WWE Raw beginning in January 2025, recently aired a Mr. McMahon documentary. The docuseries premiered inside Netflix’s Top 10, with 4.9 million viewers and 28.2 million total hours viewed in its first five days. Week 2 garnered 3.4 million viewers across almost 20 million hours viewed. The documentary was upended by the Janel Grant lawsuit, since most of the content was filmed prior to these accusations coming to light. What was supposed to be a documentary of Vince McMahon’s complicated legacy morphed into a true crime documentary by the final episode.
“I don’t regret participating in this Netflix documentary,” wrote Vince McMahon ahead of the premiere of Mr. McMahon. “The producers had an opportunity to tell an objective story about my life and the incredible business I built, which were equally filled with excitement, drama, fun, and a fair amount of controversy and life lessons. Unfortunately, based on an early partial cut I’ve seen, this doc falls short and takes the predictable path of conflating the ‘Mr. McMahon’ character with my true self, Vince. The title and promos alone make that evident.”
Last night’s broadcast of WWE Raw implicated the Janel Grant lawsuit through multiple mentions of Brock Lesnar, who was also mentioned in the original filing for an alleged arrangement where McMahon was accused of using Grant as a sexual bargaining chip to convince Lesnar to re-sign in 2021.
Lesnar’s “Beast” moniker was mentioned by top stars Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Given WWE’s intense attention to detail throughout the Triple H Era, this was far from a coincidence and Lesnar immediately became a trending topic on social media.
Grant’s legal and PR team continue to present use public platforms and press conferences to build a case against Mr. McMahon, while the embattled wrestling promoter continues to keep a lower profile as he works to salvage what’s left of his reputation.
