Super Bowl LIX is scheduled for Sunday, February 9 with kick-off at 6:30 p.m. (ET). This year’s game will take place at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the home of the Saints. The game featured the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Super Bowl LIX will be broadcast live on Fox and in Spanish on Fox Deportes and Telemundo. The game will also be livestreamed on Tubi, the Fox Sports website and app, as well as the NFL+ app, Hulu +Live TV, YouTube TV, fuboTV and Sling TV. Teams/Cities
The NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles will be appearing in their fifth Super Bowl. Overall, the team has a 1-3 record in the “Big Game”. The Eagles last appeared in the Super Bowl two years ago losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35. The Eagles were on the losing side in 1980 versus Oakland Raiders (played in New Orleans) and in 2004 to the New England Patriots. The Eagles lone Super Bowl win came in 2017 versus the New England Patriots. Prior to the Super Bowl era, the Eagles won NFL titles in 1948, 1949 and 1960.
In 2024 Philadelphia had a regular season record of 14-3 winning the NFC East and was the second seeded team in the conference. Heading into the Super Bowl, the Eagles had a postseason record of 3-0. The Eagles advance to the Super Bowl by defeating division rival Washington Commanders in the NFC conference championship game by a score of 55- 23. The 55 points was the most for any NFL conference title game.
The AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs will be playing in its seventh Super Bowl. The Chiefs have won four Super Bowls and lost twice. The Chiefs have won the past two Super Bowls and will be appearing for the fifth time in six years. The Chiefs won the fourth Super Bowl in 1970 versus Minnesota as well as in 2019 versus San Francisco, 2022 versus Philadelphia and 2023 versus San Francisco. The Chiefs were on the losing side to the first Super Bowl in 1967 against Green Bay and in 2020 versus Tampa Bay. Prior to the Super Bowl era, the Chiefs were AFL champs in 1962 as the Dallas Texans.
In 2024 the Kansas City Chiefs had a regular season record of 15-2, winning the AFC West and was the top seeded team in the conference. The Chiefs were also 2-0 in the postseason. The Chiefs defeated the Bills 32-29 in the AFC conference championship game. The 32 points were the most the Chiefs scored in a regular season or postseason game in 2024-25.
Last year the Chiefs became the ninth team to repeat as Super Bowl champions joining; Green Bay (1967-68), Miami (1973-74), Pittsburgh (1975-76), Pittsburgh (1979-80), San Francisco (1989-90), Dallas (1993-94), Denver (1998-99) and New England (2004-2005).
The Chiefs and Eagles have met in the regular season ten times, with each team winning five times. The last time they met was on November 20, 2023 with the Eagles winning 21-17.
The Kansas City Chiefs will be the third team to appear in at least three consecutive Super Bowls joining Miami (1972-74), The Buffalo Bills (1991-1994) and New England (2017-19). Buffalo lost four straight Super Bowls.
The Chiefs are attempting to be the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Although Green Bay won the NFL championship in 1965 as well as winning the first two Super Bowls in the following seasons. Also, in pre-Super Bowl era, Green Bay had won three NFL consecutive titles in 1929-31.
The Philadelphia-Kansas City Super Bowl will be the tenth Super Bowl rematch; Miami and Washington met in 1972 and 1982. San Francisco and Cincinnati met in 1981 and 1988. Dallas and Buffalo met in 1992 and 1993. Philadelphia and New England met in 2004 and 2018. New England and New York Giants met in 2007 and 2011. New England and St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams met in 2001 and 2018. Kansas City and San Francisco met in 2020 and 2024. Pittsburgh and Dallas are the only three-time matchup meeting in 1975, 1978 and 1995.
According to Forbes, in 2024 the Philadelphia Eagles were valued at $6.6 billion, ranking eighth among the NFL 32 franchises. The Kansas City Chiefs were valued at $4.85 billion ranking 24th among NFL franchises.
Philadelphia is now the fifth largest TV market and Kansas City ranks 33rd.
This will be the third time Philadelphia and Kansas City will meet in a championship game. Besides the 2023 Super Bowl, both cities played in the 1980 World Series, won by Philadelphia.
Location/Stadium
New Orleans will be hosting their 11th Super Bowl, tying the Miami Metro area for most times hosting the Super Bowl. For Caesar’s Superdome it will be the eighth time hosting. The stadium has a listed seating capacity of 76,468.
The stadium was opened in 1975 and was called the Louisiana Superdome until 2011. The stadium was called the Mercedes-Benz Superdome from 2011–2021, before renamed the Caesar’s Superdome in July 2021 in a 20-year, $138 million agreement.
The last time the Superdome hosted the Super Bowl was twelve years ago and was best remembered for the power outage resulting in a 34-minute blackout.
As of January 28, TicketIQ reports the average price for a ticket to Super Bowl LIX costs $10,621 on the secondary market, about 13.2% of the annual median household income of $80,610 in 2025. Currently, Gametime reports the lowest-cost/get-in seats are available for $6,601 per ticket (including all taxes and fees). Top tickets are going for $56,409 per ticket.
By hosting the Super Bowl, New Orleans expects an estimated 70,000 visitors and thousands of media personnel is expected to receive an economic boost of over $500 million. In 2013, New Orleans got an economic boost of about $480 million. The average hotel rate in New Orleans is $650 per night.
New Orleans is the 50th largest TV market.
Broadcast/Streaming
Fox will be broadcasting Super Bowl LIX, this will be the eleventh time the network will be televising the big gam e. Fox last televised the game two years ago when Kansas City defeated Philadelphia
For the game, Kevin Burkhardt will, for the second time, provide play-by-play coverage. Adding color commentary will be Tom Brady. For Brady this will be his first Super Bowl as an announcer. As a player Brady has been in more Super Bowls (ten) and won more Super Bowls (seven) than any other player. Brady is in his first year as a Fox commentator as part of his ten-year $375 million contract. Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi will be the sideline reporters. Prior to the kickoff Fox will air a 5½ hour pregame show.
After the Super Bowl, Fox will televise the third season premiere of The Floor, a game show.
Fox Deportes will be televising their fifth Super Bowl. The Spanish language network will be headed up by host Rodolfo Landeros, with play-by-play announcer Adrian Garcia-Marquez and analysts Jessi Losada and Jaime Motta.
In a first, Tubi, the Fox owned FAST channel will be “taken over” by Fox and Fox Deportes networks for the Super Bowl.
For Westwood One radio Kevin Harlan will again be providing play-by-play coverage with former Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner offering insights.
Worldwide, the Super Bowl is expected to be available in more than 180 countries. For example, his year in Canada, TSN, RDS and CTV will air the big game. In Mexico viewers can watch the game on Televisa and TV Azteca. In the U.K. the game can be watched on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and mobile app and Sky Sports. In Australia viewers can turn to ESPN, Kayo Sports, and Seven Network in Australia. The game will also be livestreamed globally on DAZN.
Head Coaches
The two head coaches for the game will be Andy Reid for Kansas City and Nick Sirianni for Philadelphia. The two were head coaches when the met in Super Bowl LVII in 2023.
During the postseason, Andy Reid became the fourth head coach to win 300 regular season and postseason NFL games. With 301 wins Reed joins Don Shula (347 wins), Bill Belichick (333) and George Halas (323). Heading into the Super Bowl Reid has a career won-loss record of 301-162-1.
Andy Reid is the winningest head coach for both teams. Before joining the Chiefs in 2013, Reid had been the head coach at Philadelphia from 1999 to 2012. As Eagles head coach Reid had a regular season win-loss record of 130-93-1. Reid also went 10-9 in the postseason. While at Philadelphia Reid took the Eagles to five NFC conference championship games and one Super Bowl losing to New England.
While at Kansas City, Reid has a regular season win-loss record of 143-53 and a postseason record of 18-6. In his twelve seasons at Kansas City, Reid has taken the Chiefs to the postseason 11 times including the last seven AFC championship games. While at Kansas City Reid has a 3-1 record in the Super Bowl. Only two head coaches have won more Super Bowls; Bill Belicheck (six) and Chuck Noll (four).
Andy Reid is also the only NFL coach to win 100 games for two different teams.
Andy Reid is the fifth head coach to face his former team in the Super Bowl, along with Weeb Ewbank (New York Jets and Baltimore Colts); Dan Reeves (Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons); Jon Gruden (Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Pete Carroll (New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks). Reid is the only head coach to face his former team twice.
Nick Sirianni has been the head coach of Philadelphia since 2021. Sirianni has a regular season win-loss record of 48-20 and a postseason record of 5-3. Sirianni has taken the Eagles to the postseason in all four seasons he has been the head coach. Siriani has 0-1 record in the Super Bowl.
Nick Sirianni had been an assistant coach with the Chiefs from 2009 to 2012, prior to Andy Reid joining the team.
Advertisers
In early November Fox told investors they had sold out all ad time for the Super Bowl LIX with media reports of a :30 ad at $7 million. About 80-85% of the ads were negotiated during the upfronts last Spring. The last ten :30 ads sold by Fox reached a record $8 million.
According to iSpot, celebrities and influencers are becoming an advertising staple. In 2010, celebrities were only 1/3rd of creative, it’s now post-COVID about 70%. iSpot notes, another trend has been multiple-celebrity Super Bowl ads have sharply increased, as brands insure their spots appeal to a broad audience.
Another trend has been the fall-off in automotive ads, in the 2012 Super Bowl, 40% of all ad minutes were from carmakers, that figure dropped to 8% last year. Also, in 2023, 15% of all Super Bowl ad minutes were for alcoholic beverages which dropped to 8% in last year.
This year viewers can expect more artificial intelligence and pharmaceutical ads and fewer for streaming providers and movie studios.
With last year’s Super Bowl going into overtime, it was estimated that CBS earned $695 million in ad revenue.
Audiences
As reported by Nielsen, the average audience for last year’s Super Bowl was 123.7 million, setting a record. The Super Bowl aired on CBS and Univision as well as streamed on Paramount+ and other platforms.
Over 200 million viewers (202.4) watched all-or-part of Super Bowl LVIII across all networks, the highest unduplicated total audience to date and up +10% from Super Bowl XLII (183.6 million).
The “Taylor Swift Effect”, last year females accounted for a record 47.5% of the total Super Bowl audience. Females age 18-24 had a year-over-year growth in viewing of +24%. Taylor Swift has been dating Kansas City’s Travis Kelce and, once again, is expected to be a spectator at Super Bowl LIX.
The last Super Bowl on Fox (in 2023) had averaged a then record, 115.1 million viewers. Surpassing the average audience of the 2014 Super Bowl with 114.8 million viewers.
Globally, last year’s Super Bowl had an estimated audience of 62.5 million, a +10% increase from 2023. Canada’s audience averaged 10.1 million viewers and Mexico’s averaged 8.7 million.
The ten most watched TV programs and 19 of the top 20 are now Super Bowls. The M*A*S*H finale in February 1983 ranks eleventh.
Music
Kendrick Lamar will headline the halftime show at the Super Bowl. Lamar has won 22 Grammy Awards (including five this week), third most for any rapper. Lamar will be joined on stage by SZA with other possible musical guests. Previously, Lamar participated in the halftime show of the 2022 Super Bowl from his native Los Angeles along with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Eminem.
Louisiana native Jon Batiste, a Golden Globe winner, Oscar winner and Grammy Award winner for album of the year in 2022, will sing the national anthem.
Trombone Shorty and Christian singer Lauren Daigle will collaborate on “America the Beautiful,”
Ledisi will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
Last year Usher headlined the Super Bowl halftime show. Spotify reported overall, Usher’s streams increased by 550% in the U.S. Usher’s first song “Caught Up,” a song from 2005, grew by 2000% the largest increase. After the Super Bowl, Usher’s “Yeah!” ranked seventh on the Apple Music charts, with “My Boo” and “Love in This Club” ranking among the top 20.
Usher’s halftime performance set a record audience averaging 129.3 million viewers.
Super Bowl Economy
According to the latest Super Bowl Spending Survey from the National Retail Foundation and Prosper Insights & Analytics, 203.4 million U.S. adults plan on watching the “big game”. For Super Bowl LIX, 113.7 million will either host or attend a Super Bowl party. Another 17.8 million plan to watch the game at a bar/restaurant.
The survey found total consumer spending on food, drinks, apparel, decorations, etc. is forecast to reach a record $18.6 billion, or $91.58 per person. By comparison, the survey last year forecast consumer spending to be $17.3 billion ($86.04 per person).
The survey also reported 81% of consumers plan to purchase food & drink for the Super Bowl, followed by team apparel (14%), TV’s (10%), decorations (8%) and furniture (6%).
For 43% of the viewers, the game is the most important part of the Super Bowl. Another 19% said the halftime show was most important, followed by 17% that answered the TV ads.
According to Restaurant Ware, next to Thanksgiving, the Super Bowl is the second most popular day to order take-out food. An estimated 48 million (1 in 7 Americans) are projected to order take-out. Pizza accounts for about 60% of take-out orders.
Another popular food is chicken wings, an estimated 1.25 billion will be eaten on Super Sunday. In addition, 19.4 million pounds of chips (potato and tortilla) are purchased. Nearly 140 pounds of avocado are purchased for guacamole dips. (Mexico is exporting 110,000 tons of avocado.) For Super Bowl weekend 325.5 million gallons of beer (50 million cases) will be drunk. Super Sunday is the second most popular day of the year to grill after the Fourth of July.
Wagering
Close to 40 states now have some form of legalized sports wagering.
In last year’s Super Bowl, the American Gaming Association estimated 68 million Americans had wagered over $23 billion on the game. Wagering on Super Bowl LIX is expected to be greater.
Kansas City are 1.5 points favorites to win the Super Bowl. The under/over for Super Bowl LIX is 49.5 points.
Looking Ahead
Super Bowl LX will take place in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on February 8, 2026. The game will air on NBC/Peacock. On February 6, NBC/Peacock will be airing the Opening Ceremonies of the 2026 Winter Olympics held in Milano-Cortina, Italy. The Closing Ceremonies will be on February 22.
